(ie you get a 2 year warranty)
(NB: This offer only applies to PCPatch brand computers)

Windows 7 is a major “upgrade” of Vista.  Vista has suffered from the usual problems all first release software versions suffer from ie some things don’t work well or are not done very well.  As with most things, version 2 is where it starts to work.  Windows 7 is a result of re-engineering Vista, keeping the good bits and reworking or removing the bad bits.   It doesn’t have such heavy overhead requirements of RAM etc as Vista.

General comments are optimistic that Windows 7 removes most of the reasons for not migrating to Vista.

One feature that will be helpful.  If you have the right CPU and Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate you are able to run XP Pro within a Virtual PC as part of the Windows 7.  This means you should be able to run applications that are only supported on XP within Windows 7.

If you are interested about upgrading to Windows 7, download program called Windows 7  upgrade Adviser.  You can download it from here.

Virus Issues

Things to keep in mind about viruses.  Always keep your antivirus program up to date.  An expired (and therefore out of date) antivirus program is next to useless.  Your Windows updates should be up to date also as a lot of the Windows updates are related to security patches or tools for antivirus programs to use to remove viruses.   Enquire
